A long time ago, I heard about using "you" in conversations, and I think a form of that kind of speaking applies here.
I try my best to only speak from the position of "I." So instead of "if you," I would say, "When I placed my..."
To me, that would create a clearer sense of your belief that it's your choice.
There is still a problem with this. Christians don’t see this as a choice. For them, it’s required. So you’re not really a Christian if you don’t believe that everyone has to do this to be saved.
